The simple idea
24" pads are the full-size solution — built for a real service environment where the lift has to handle all kinds of vehicles. You need coverage that works no matter what rolls in, so a full-length pad is the right default for busy shops and multi-vehicle bays.
12" pads (sold as a set of two) were designed for less demanding situations — for example a known vehicle or a more limited use case where pad placement can guarantee coverage on that setup. At the same price as one 24" pad ($150), the 12" set lets you protect both posts for what a dealership-style bay might spend on a single full-size unit. Same manufacturer quality; sized for shops that don’t need full-length coverage on every vehicle.
